FROM BEAN TO CUP
Our purpose is guided by a strong belief: quality starts right at the beginning of the chain, at the plant itself. That is why we consider it important for us to be present and work in coffee-producing countries in close collaboration with growers to seek out and process the best Arabica beans. All countries from which the unique illy blend comes are located in the area widely known as Global South and for them coffee cultivation is one of the few - if not the only - sources of income.
SELECTION
The importance of choice.
We buy only the top 1% of Arabica varieties grown worldwide because even a single defective bean can destroy the taste of the coffee in the cup. Suppliers are chosen using strict criteria based on a system of rewards and incentives for quality or alternatively via direct relationships.
BLEND
The recipe for success.
We create the unique illy blend with a combination of 20 100% Arabica coffees from the world's best harvests. The recipe is secret, and contains 9 ingredients to keep the illy flavour consistent at all times.
ROASTING
The perfect shade.
We roast our unique blend using different roasting profiles because even the single, unique taste can have different shades and hues.
MATURATION & PRESSURISED PACKAGING
Long-lasting aroma.

illycaffè is a unique company worldwide with numerous awards and certifications.
In 2021 illycaffè became the first Italian coffee company to acquire B Corp certification, which is awarded to companies that meet the highest standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and responsibility.
In 2019 it reinforced its commitment to sustainability by adopting the form of a multi-shareholder public benefit company, Societa Benefit. From 2013 to the present day, illycaffè has been the only Italian company to have been included by the Ethisphere Institute in the World's Most Ethical Companies (WME) list. It is the first company in the world to hold a responsible supply chain management certificate from DNV Gl. It holds ISO 14001 and the EMAS certification (confirming the effectiveness of the environmental management system at the Trieste plant).
